Ingredients

2 lbs Beef tenderloin or skirt steak

1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon Onion powder

Freshly cracked black pepper

1/4 cup Soy sauce

2-3 tablespoons Calamansi or Fresh Lemon juice

2-3 Garlic cloves, chopped

1 Red onion, sliced into rings

1/2 cup Red wine (optional)

1-2 tablespoons Brown sugar

Neutral oil for cooking

Method

Cut beef into squares. Marinate with garlic and onion powder, lemon or calamansi juice, soy sauce, chopped garlic and cracked black pepper. Place in a container and marinate for at least 3 hrs or overnight in the fridge.

In a skillet, heat oil. Lightly brown the marinated beef on both sides. Remove from heat, then in the same skillet, sauté red onions. Once translucent, remove onions from pan and set aside. Add back into the pan the browned beef with its marinade. Simmer for about 10 mins then add brown sugar and red wine (optional), let it simmer until sauce is reduced. Garnish with red onion rings.

Serve with steamed white rice, Enjoy!
